Concert & Conversations
The theme of this year´s Operadays is: "Við erum öll“, meaning: "We are all“. Through Concert & Conversations, we will learn about various song and opera projects, all having something to do with inclusion and/or engaging a broader audience. The artists will be performing abstracts from, and discussing the ideas and motivations behind their projects.
The main focus of the event will be on a shortened version of the chamber opera "As One" by Laura Kaminsky. First premiered in 2014, in Brooklyn, the piece is now the single most produced new opera in the USA. In the performance version for Operadays, two singers will be sharing the part of "Hannah younger" and two of "Hannah older", all representing the sole transgender protagonist, before and after her transition.
