Asa Fanney Gestsdottir is one of the Artistic Directors of Operudagar i Reykjavik. During the years 2002-2006 she studied opera singing at the Operaschool of the Staatliche Hochschule fuer Musik und Darstellende Kunst Stuttgart. She lived in Germany for twelve years and performed many of the major mezzo-soprano opera roles as well as in concert and oratorio. She performed at festivals such as Salzburger Schlossfestspiele, Ludwigsburger Schlossfestspiele and Rossini in Wildbad Belcanto Opera Festival. She was also a member of Nina Kurzeja Tanztheater whose productions merged the art forms of opera and modern dance.

Asa graduated with a Master's degree in Cultural Management from Bifrost University in 2017. For the last several years Asa has mainly focused on managing and promoting concerts and cultural events in Iceland.
