Ólöf Sigursveinsdóttir is a cellist in the music scene in Iceland where she holds solo-recitals or plays chamber music performing with various artists. Ólöf had her first cello lesson at the age of five in ,Musicschool of Sigursveinn' where she grew up in a family of musicians and went later on to further studies in Stuttgart, Germany at the Hochschule für Musik und Darstellende Kunst. There she studied alongside cello, also orchestra- and choir conducting. Ólöf has held various recitals, both at home in Iceland and abroad with pianists as Bjarni Frímann Bjarnason, Einar Bjartur Egilsson and Agnieszka Bryndal. One of her recent recitals, held in the grand Concert venue of Reykjavík: Harpa concert and conference center, was played along with world performing pianist, Slava Poprugin, with sonatas of R.Strauss, L.v.Beethoven and french music by Nadia Boulanger. Ólöf Sigursveinsdóttir is a grand host, artistic director and organizer of one of the most well known classical Festivals in Iceland, the annual Berjadagar Musicfestiva. There she performs with various artists for four days in Ólafsfjörður in the North of Iceland.
