Auður Gunnarsdóttir was born in Reykjavík, Iceland. She graduated from the Reykjavik Singing school in 1991 and in 1997 she received a master degree in opera singing from the Opera-school and the Conservatory in Stuttgart Germany. Her tutors in Stuttgart were Prof. Luisa Bossabalian and Carl Davis. During her academic years, Audur visited seminars by Renata Scotto, Brigitte Fassbaender and Herman Prey. In 1999, Auður was hired by the Opera in Würzburg, Germany. There, she had the opportunity to sing many of the main roles of the opera-literature, including Rosalinda í Fledermaus, Antoniia in Hoffmans tails  Pamínu in the Magic flute, Micaäla in Carmen, Donna Elvira in Don Giovanni, Blance in Dialogues of the Carmelites, Annína in  A Night in Venice, and many more. Auður has performed as a guest singer in various opera-houses including the opera houses in Mannheim, Heidelberg, Bielefeld and Hannover. Audur has also performed many lied concerts both in Iceland and abroad. She has also received various grants and prizes including grant from the Wagner association in Germany, Artist’s salaries, and grants from the Icelandic music fund. Several CDs with Auður have been published.
