Heleen Vegter
Pianist
Heleen Vegter is a true Lieder pianist. In recent years, she has played various programs with
classics such as Schubert's Winterreise and Wagner's Wesendoncklieder, but also searches with her duo partners for new forms and interesting combinations of repertoire. For instance, she performed the accessible summery Sole e Amore with soprano Charlotte Houberg, she points towards alleged mental illnesses of women in Hysteria with soprano Helena Koonings, and she presents the music of Dutch composers Henriette Bosmans and Anna Cramer together with mezzo-soprano Esther Kuiper in Droomt zijn?. With mezzo-soprano Eva Kroon, she has set up Vitamine Klassiek during the lockdowns: classical song in an online format. Songs have held a special attraction for Heleen for years, because of the depth of the combination of text and sound.
It is precisely the colouring of the singer'ss words that Heleen feels at home with. She has
performed at international festivals such as Oxford Lieder, the International Song Festival Zeist and the Aldeburgh Festival in Great Britain as a Young Artist and has played in venues such as the Muziekgebouw aan t IJ, Concertgebouw Amsterdam and Harpa, Reykjavik. She learned the tricks of the trade from Hans Eijsackers, Malcolm Martineau and Susan Manoff. She also attended masterclasses with Anne Sofie von Otter and Elly Ameling. During the conservatoire Frank van de Laar was her principal teacher.
