Hrönn Þráinsdóttir began her piano studies in Reykjavík at the age of 8. In 1991 she enrolled at the Reykjavík College of Music with Jónas Ingimundarson and graduated in 1998 with a degree in music performance. She then went on to Germany to study at the Staatliche Hochschule für Musik in Freiburg im Breisgau. Her principal teachers were Prof. Dr. Tibor Szasz and Prof. Hans-Peter Müller of ied interpretation. Hrönn graduated in 2004 with a diploma in music performance, lied accompaniment and music education. She graduated 2007 with Master's degree from the faculty of Lied interpretation at the Staatliche Hochschule für Musik und Darstellende Kunst in Stuttgart, where she studied with prof. Cornelis Witthoefft. Hrönn is one of the leading accompanists with singers in Iceland. She has specialized in the vocal repertoire and is very active in the general music scene in Iceland. She has premiered Icelandic songs, recorded for both radio and television and has also recorded many albums. She has participated in many opera projects over the years, mostly for independent opera companies, the festival Óperudagar and Sönghátíð í Hafnarborg. She has then been the music director for the Opera studio in Söngskólinn í Reykjavík (Reykjavík Academy of Singing and Vocal Arts) for the last 15 years. She has performed in concerts and accompanied singers in Iceland, widely around Europe, as well as in China and in the USA. Hrönn is a teacher at the Reykjavik Academy of Singing and Vocal Arts (Söngskólinn í Reykjavík), the Sigurður Demetz Academy of Singing in Reykjavík and at Menntaskóli í tónlist (Iceland College of Music).
