Magnús Hallur Jónsson

Magnús Hallur studied at Söngskólinn í Reykjavík with Berþór Pálsson and Ólöf Kolbrún Jónsdóttir. He then went to Berlin to study at the Hochschule für Musik "Hanns Eisler" where his main teacher was Bernd Riedel, and from Wolfram Rieger he received guidance in Lied interpretation. In Berlin he has sung at the Staatsoper Berlin where he sang in Jürgen Flimm's production of "Macbeth" by Sciarrino as well as other productions, Konzerthaus Berlin and Deutsche Oper Berlin to name a few. Magnús is active in the performance of new music and music theater and performs regularly with Solistenensemble Phønix16, OperaLab Berlin, and Lwowski-Kronforth Musiktheater Kollektiv. He has taken part in masterclasses with Kiri Te Kanawa and Christoph Marthaler amongst others.
