Margrét Kristjánsdóttir began her violin studies at the of age six. After completing her studies in Iceland Margrét headed to NYC where she completed her BM and MM at the Mannes College of Music.

Margrét has been a permanent member of the Iceland Symphony Orchestra since 1993. She has also been active with several different music groups through the years.

Margrét is currently on the violin faculty of Nýi Tónlistarskólinn. She translated and adapted Adventures in Violinland in collaboration with Shirley Givens who was Margrét‘s teacher at Mannes and Sigríður Pálmadóttir.
