Matti Borg
Composer and vocal coach
Matti Borg (b.1956) trained as a composer and singer at the Royal Danish Academy of Music. This was followed by additional studies in London and Sweden. His compositions include vocal and choral works, orchestral songs, chamber music, theatrical music, musicals as well as educational music. Worth mentioning, Matti was commissioned to set 5 poems of his Royal Highness, The Prince Consort Henrik to music for piano and soprano, and this work had its first succesfull performance May 2014 in the presence of the prince himself. The songs were recorded and released in 2019 as a part of the album “Passing Through” by Gitta-Maria Sjöberg, soprano and Polina Fradkina, piano. Many songs have been translated to other languages and his works are often played in TV and Radio. He frequently takes inspiration from the works of poets, writers and painters. Teaching is also an important part of Matti's life, and he is on high demand as a music-teacher for children, young people, singers, actors and aspiring instrumentalists for his knowledge and inspirational guidance.
Matti's compositions display a remarkable scope of expression, content and form, and he is much receptive to other cultures, art forms and genres - including the Nordic folkmusic tradition, which he brings alive in a new fascinating and very personal way, both free and respectful, modern and classical. His works has been performed in The Nordic Countries, United Kingdom, Belgium, Spain, France, Cyprus, Russia, Japan, Canada and the USA.
