Violaine Fournier
Singer, director, librettist
Violaine Fournier is an opera singer, director and librettist/dramatist. Since 2005 she has
directed the opera company for young audiences that she founded, Cie Minute Papillon, a
frame in which she creates shows that help audiences discover the lyrical repertoire in a fun,
creative and accessible way, and contributes to contemporary musical creation.
Her shows include The Cook Opera, Tout Neuf !, The Taste of Olives, Grat´ moi la Puce que ai
dans l´Do, Hänsel et Gretel, Les Bavards, Peau d'Âne and Assassines. She performs most of
these shows as a singer-actor, in France and abroad (Italy, China, Denmark, Switzerland,
Oman, Belgium).
Outside her company, she writes numerous opera texts for children (Olympe the Rebel,
Bhaskaracharya, Aqqaluk and the great auk, Let’s move to a new world) and supervises the
writing and staging of numerous participatory projects with specific audiences, for the
d'Aix en Provence, the Paris Opera, and Insula Orchestra.
As part of these projects, she collaborates with European composers (I. Aboulker, G. Finzi, J.
Le Hérissier, M. Withers) and runs numerous workshops for a wide range of audiences.
